Azamara Announces Names of Azamara Pursuit Godmothers

Azamara Club Cruises has a unique christening event planned for this August. The cruise line has announced the Azamara Pursuit will have co-godmothers for their new ship. The naming ceremony for Azamara Pursuit will be led by Ellen Asmodeo-Giglio, Chief Revenue Officer of AFAR Media and Lucy Huxley, Editor-in-Chief of Travel Weekly UK. With a combined 50 years commitment to the travel industry, Asmodeo-Giglio and Huxley have experience on both the consumer and travel trade markets.
Breaking tradition, Azamara Pursuit will be the first ship in the fleet to have godmothers.

The two godmothers will christen Azamara Pursuit in Southampton, UK on August 28. Ship christening is a longstanding naval tradition that can be found in many cultures and dates back thousands of years. Following the naming ceremony, Azamara Pursuit will set out for an AzAmazing afternoon event in Cherbourg, France.
Similar to Azamara Club Cruises’ AzAmazing Evenings, the complimentary excursion will offer all 690 guests the opportunity to leave the ship in the evening and experience an exclusive shoreside event that connects local culture and the destination’s heritage.
The cruise will end with a White Night on-deck party. Guests will enjoy a feast served poolside by Azamara’s officers and crew members. Dancing continues into the wee hours.
In August, on its maiden voyage, Azamara Pursuit will travel from Southampton to Norway, visiting eight destinations in the Scandinavian country. Azamara Pursuit will visit 15 new ports for the fleet including ports wSeyðisfjörður, Iceland and Maceió, Brazil. This will also be the first Azamara ship to venture to the Chilean Fjords and Antarctica.
