First cruise line to offer cruises to Cuba from U.S. in over 50 years.
Just announced by Carnival Corp CEO Arnold Donald, Carnival Corporation’s newly created fathom travel cruise linewill begin cruises to Cuba in May 2016.
Called “cultural exchange voyages, fathom’s only cruise ship, the 710-passenger Adonia, will allow guests to visit multiple locations on Cuba. Sailing round-trip from Miami to Cuba, the Adonia features all oceanview and balcony staterooms.
According to Carnival Corp. the new cultural exchange trips to Cuba will begin at $2,990 per person, based on double occupancy, excluding Cuba Visa, and Taxes, Fees and Port Expenses. Included in the price will be on-ground educational and cultural exchanges and related supplies, onboard programming, daily meals.
Approval from the U.S government is still pending, but once Carnival gets the green light, the Adonia will begin cruises to Cuba from Miami to not one but possibly multiple ports on the island.
With leisure travel still prohibited for U.S. citizens to visit Cuba, the Adonia bases its Cuba itinerary on humanitarian, educational, cultural, religious and artistic exchanges between U.S. and Cuban persons, as is currently allowed by law.
